Very tasty meal in a lovely environment. The rigatoni is one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. Food was fresh and flavorful without being heavy. Service was fast and great. The drinks were interesting, classic with a twist and very memorable. I'll be back for sure next time I'm in town.

Stopped in for a light snack and drink before the afternoon ballet. We chose the baked raclette which was very tasty and had hot mulled wine. Both reminded us of being in a European Christmas market. Will definitely go back to try more on the menu.

Fries, pate, apple salad, pretzels were great apps. Both fish mains were good. Excellent absinthe cocktails. Definitely make a reservation.

French food here - yummy. Don't worry if it's busy, it is worth the wait. The service here is attentive. It has a good feel to it. Similar to a cafe in Las Vegas I liked.

We came to the restaurant after a symphony show in hopes to enjoy some dessert. We were expecting that it will be a quick -30ish min stop as we only wanted dessert. However we ended up spending an hour and half because we had terrible service. The waitress forgot to put our order in multiple times, served us cold coffee, forgot our cocktail order, when we got our dessert after 58 min wait we got it with no utensils, we had to remind her multiple times to get our cheque, and overall just poor experience. Will not be returning to this place.

Classic SF staple. Great burger, mussels, French onion soup and tartar. Sit at the bar and sip cocktails, snack on the soft pretzels. Great wine list! A bit pricey for a full meal but a great date spot.

Long time neighborhood bar and restaurant it has been a long time since I last came here. Food is still great. My long time favorites are hamburger and French onion soup. They changed the fries which I liked better served really skinny. Other than that great place to hang out, great variety of absinthe and other liquors, great people, great service.

One of my favorite places in San Francisco. We often stay right around the corner from The Absinthe. My husband wheeled me in my wheelchair so that we could both drink freely. There is a long list of delicious drinks made with Absinthe on the menu. Of course, one can play it safe and drink wine with dinner, but where is the adventure in that?French food is also great here. We wanted a fairly light meal, so we enjoyed bowls of the signature French onion soup and French fries. Wonderful food!

Same great menu and prep. Service a little off this trip, and really noisy. We were attending a performance and Absinthe is geared to getting food out on time, which they did. Duck Confit hash is great. One of the best wine selections in town. Onion soup is legendary.

Love the escargots and the french onion soup. Wines were simple and good. The staff is friendly and the owners are super cool. Can't wait to be back!

High touch service, with knowledgeable wait staff as befitting a top flight restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious, plated to perfection, and a delight. Excellent, excellent experience - worth the price they charge. Recommend.

Classic spot with great service. Recently stopped for snacks and drinks between lunch and dinner. Fabulous curated drink list with a great bar menu. Pretzel bites are addicting! Great service.

Five stars for service. Food and drinks were good, too, but the service was memorable as the waiter asked if we were on our way to a play (we were) and when we wanted to leave. We said six and the full meal was timed to comfortably get us out at exactly six. No apprehension, no need to quickly gulp down the meal or ask for take out boxes. No rush. No worries. We didn't even need to ask. First time that's ever happened to us. Made it easier to enjoy the evening. And the play was wonderful, too!

I came here on a Saturday night and really liked the vibe of the bar. Great bartenders who make delicious drinks! My only comment is that this bar is very small without a lot of seating. I would definitely come back for a good drink but I wouldn't necessarily come back for a night out. We ended up going to another bar in the area that was more lively and that had dancing.

We had some great fries, 🧀, drinks and oysters. Random selection I know! A great atmosphere to share time w friends or family.

I really love this spot - no longer best is the meals high-quality however Gretchen, our sommelier, became so knowledgeable, humorous, and fantastic that I might be back simply to improve my wine tasting competencies! Fancy but now not too fancy

The entrance is literally a Absinthe Brasserie & Bar . Once inside, it's like a french villa in the Mediterranean playing french music that I heard from some popular movies background.

Great drinks and the small plates we tried were super tasty. The raclette was a particular high point

So amazing! I Love this place, from the food to the atmosphere and can't forget the service! Amanda was our server and did outstanding, thank you!Amanda provided my Wife and I recommendations for appetizers. We had the Oxtail and the Vegan Tomato soup as appetizers. I would suggest this to anyone who would be interested in having dinner. For our entree we had the Butternut Squash, although not the best plate out of our order it was still delicious. And at the end we topped it off with Dessert for my wife's birthday. Enjoyed this night so much. I should of taken more photos of the food haha

Really good for party of 2-4. For 5+ people reservation is harder for the weekends. Good food. Would suggest the Cheese. Good service. They don't rush you.

I love menus with fewer but spectacular dishes listed, many prepared in ways we'd never thought of.From my bouillabaisse to the perfectly cooked fillet, the food was extremely tasty.Expensive but well worth it.

Great service and food was tasty.

The food is just so awesome. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. You must definitely try out several of the snacks and appetizer. The chickpeas snack is superb, as is the shaved brussel sprouts and barrata appetizer.I had the rigatoni, the only vegetarian entree. Very good. Not many vegan choices sadly. They are also known for their cocktails featuring absinthe (what else?!). I loved the "secret garden" cocktail. Also very good wine list.
Sara Khosravinasr
They have the best absinthe cocktails and the foods are so yummy.

Went here for the absinthe, came back because of the food. Very cozy restaurant. Delicious food, cocktails, and mocktails. I wanted to order all of the appetizers. Staff is professional and attentive. Food comes out quick, but drinks are a little slow. Reservations should be made in advance because it gets busy.

Fabulous atmosphere and decor. Absolutely first class service. Everything I tasted was delicious. Vegetarian choices, and an assortment of artisanal cocktails on offer. Tried one dessert and it was great!

I like this place! They offer tasty food, they have a nice menu, The cook in that restaurant is a professional, I enjoy very much trying all their food. The food is always good, the service towards the visitors is agreeable. I often go to this restaurant and I not even once was unsatisfied. I recommend this place.

french food and the atmosphere here is very good. Super delicious. They have a lot of great reviews for a reason.

The absolute worst service, food mix up reservation screwup. I'd give this place negative starts if I could. -5 stars. I'll never come back.😩
Yara Bragg
Very good food and drinks. There is plenty of non-absinthe cocktails for anyone tbat doesn't like absinthe too. The food was amazing. We got a pork so tender it fell apart when picking it up. Highly recommend for anyone wanting some bougie French-American style affair

Loved it. The abience, the service, the menu, fair price. Short walk from Davies Symphony Hall or War Memorial Opera House.
Aubrey Hernandez
Classic SF staple. Great burger, mussels, French onion soup and tartar. Sit at the bar and sip cocktails, snack on the soft pretzels. Great wine list! A bit pricey for a full meal but a great date spot.

Delicious, and kind staff. My 11 year old loved the oysters.

his is a little unassuming hole-in-the-wall bar with a cool art deco vibe. Came in on a Sunday (early evening) and the place was still only about 1/3 full with a mature, unpretentious crowd. The bar is impeccably clean and we were pleasantly surprised to learn that there is all-day happy hour on Sundays. The bartender was classy, courteous and attentive and recommended the $10 Grammercy cocktail on special for $10. They were absolutely delicious. The music was kept at a good level as well so that you could easily talk to your companions, but was not awkwardly silent so that you can hear others' conversations. Would make the drive out to hang out at this place again for sure.

My fiance and I had our first date here. We got engaged here. And we recently celebrated our anniversary here! Absinthe will always have a special place in our hearts and we thoroughly enjoy our visits each time! Absolutely love the little booths they have. The food is also always stellar! All in all a good time! Check out their caviar canapes. Had them during brunch! Caviar on a tater tot, which they call a potato pancake. Genius.

I meet friends in this great restaurant often! This is my favorite spot to dine. I go there many times. The cooking is very good, the team is friendly and the prices are good. I enjoy going in this place for a decent lunch.
P.S. Lee
The food was good and service was prompt if not overly friendly. Love the beef tartare and their drinks with absinthe it. I love their decor and seem like a old style cozy restaurant.
Christopher Lem
Fantastic staff, decor, food and service. I almost don't want to rate this because I want to make sure we have a better chance at keeping a table, but great business Absinthe!
Sue Montgomery
The gem of Hayes Valley. Great food & drinks menu, especially the huge wine list. Try a cocktail made with Absinthe. Shocking!
Nitin Grewal
Busy night but staff was nice. Good salmon dish and drinks.

Simone Harms
Always great French brassiere style food. Always great service
Randall Nacamuli
Still very good after all these years. I have not been in a while so I’m not sure if they changed hands or just have tweaked the menu. Drinks were excellent, quiche was amazing had the perfect custard texture. Wild mushroom omelette was also quite good. A definite stand out was the Kampachi.
Everton Talker
Good service! And their own lovely host, hostess to greet you!
